Stay in the loop

Giving Back

“On behalf of the Lighthouse of Pinellas, I’d like to personally thank you for your contribution to the success of the Summer Transition Program for teens with visual impairments. I sincerely appreciate you working with me to schedule a time for you to teach the students how to hoola hoop. One of my responsibilities is to teach the students they can be active in life despite their disability. From participating in your class, they learned they can hoola despite their vision loss. Thank you for making the class fun and meaningful for the group. I sincerely appreciate your contributions and the Lighthouse of Pinellas hopes to continue our partnership with you in the near future.”

In 2010, and with the help and vision of long-time student and friend, Carissa Caricato, we launched the not-for-profit arm of Hoola Monsters, Hoola for Happiness.  The mission?  To spread the joy of hooping to the world, one hoop at a time, one life at a time.  Since then, the concept has grown and evolved into a separate entity and world-wide effort, bridging language and cultural barriers through play and laughter with hoops.

Check out Carissa’s trip to Haiti, where she brought smiles and hoops to children at the Happy House in Petit Goave.
