Author

Abby Headshot 1At the age of 5, Abby Albaum began keeping hand-written journals.  Throughout the years, she filled them with heartfelt reflections, using writing as a means to deal with life’s challenges.  Little did she know that those journals would someday serve as the inspiration for her first book.

A dedicated advocate for depression awareness and suicide prevention, she aims to convey a message of hope for those who suffer.  Abby is currently seeking a publisher, as she embarks on the journey of sharing her story…

About the Book

Raw and real, this book is an introspective look into the world of depression and suicide through the eyes of a survivor. Writings include reflections, journal excerpts and poetry over a 20-year period. This is a story of internal conflict, self-awareness and hope, as the author takes you on a journey into her world. It’s about finding the light in unconventional ways and learning how to make positive changes to become a happier and healthier person, from the inside out.

In Her Own Words

I am not a doctor, and I am not a psychiatrist. I can’t offer you professional advice, and I won’t tell you how to live or think. I have not spent years in classes, studying mental illness. Most of what I know, I’ve learned through my own experiences.  What I can offer is a different perspective. No clinical definitions or evaluations. Just my story. As someone who has both suffered from depression and coped with the loss of a loved one to suicide, I understand the magnitude of this illness. I know that it’s just as powerful as cancer, AIDS or any other life-threatening disease.  I also know that it doesn’t have to consume you and that it is possible to find the light.

The T-Shirt to Prove It

In the Spring of 2010, Abby will be featured in life coach Sherry’s Sexton’s upcoming book, The T-Shirt to Prove It. In Abby’s chapter, Happy Hooping, she discusses the transition from a corporate office marketing career to life as a young, female entrepreneur.

“The book you are about to enjoy barely scratches the surface of the new powerful force of women entrepreneurs. Expect to be inspired. Expect to learn something new. Expect to join the movement.”

From the foreword by Mike Michalowicz
Best-selling author of The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur.

My purpose in writing The T-Shirt to Prove it! was to inspire other women by sharing the challenges, adversities and successes of amazing women entrepreneurs. My hope is that the following audiences will enjoy it!

  • Women, who have ever dreamt of owning their own business but for some reason, never took that leap of faith.
  • Women entrepreneurs who would love additional support and guidance in any stage of their business.
  • ANYONE who is looking to be encouraged or simply entertained by the passion and humor of these incredible women.

The women in this book have been there, done that – and have the T-shirt to prove it!

So, if that small voice in your head keeps saying, “If only I could…” or, “Someday I would love to…”, then this book will motivate you to take action and live the life you have imagined.
